Much to celebrate

Mother Doris Reception - St. Luke's Episcopal Church

We recently had much to celebrate at St. Luke’s. We honored Reverend Doris Westfall, who served as our interim priest over the past year and a half. We thank you, Mother Doris, for all you have done to help us on this part of our journey, and wish you well as you embark on the next phase of your own.

Two members of the St. Luke’s family had their marriage blessed as their 25th wedding anniversary approaches in October.

The Lord Jesus has given us so many reasons to be joyful. Let us give Him thanks and praise!

The Holylands Arts & Summer at St. Luke’s

St. Luke’s bbq

St. Luke’s recently kicked off the summer with our new combined 10AM service, annual bbq (thank you to Dave and Chris who pulled hotdog and pulled pork duties) and a visit from Bishop Wayne Smith. The vestry hosted a breakfast and discussion with Bishop Smith.

This year, we also had the pleasure of shopping for some beautiful Olive-wood handcrafts from The Holylands Arts, an organization which supports more than 500 Christian families in the Bethlehem and Jerusalem areas. A big “thank you” to Raad and Sandy from The Holylands for sharing these gifts and bringing the story of these struggling families to St. Luke’s. More information about the Holylands Arts’ mission, along with items available for purchase can be found at their website at

Now that summer is officially underway, please note St. Luke’s summer office hours: Mon-Wed, Fri 8:30am-12:30pm.

Have a safe and fun summer!

Discernment Committee Update: Profile complete, receiving candidates

The St. Luke’s Discernment Committee has been hard at work finalizing necessary documents for our rector search. We are pleased to announce that the documents have been finalized, and our open position has been posted on the Diocese of Missouri website. We plan to make the profile and trifold available in hard copy so that all parishioners may review them. Please be on the lookout for those, or you may also download an electronic version of the profile from our website.

The next step in our search process is receiving candidates for the position. This opportunity will be open for 60 days. Candidates will be screened and vetted by the Diocese, and then passed on to the committee for our review. As always, the Discernment Committee thanks you for your prayers, patience and understanding. Please direct any questions to any member of the Discernment Committee.

Search Process Update: January 18, 2016

The Discernment Committee is in the process of finalizing our church profile, the St. Luke’s portfolio and our brochure. These documents are critical in the next step of our search, which is announcing the open position and receiving names. Once these documents are finalized, we will post the open position and begin accepting candidates for approximately 60 days. We know it has been a long wait, but this is a very deliberate process to ensure we find the best fit for St. Luke’s. As always, we appreciate your patience, and please don’t hesitate to let any of the committee members know if you have any questions or concerns.
