St. Luke’s Preschool is currently accepting registration for new students for the 2016-2017 school year. Children ages 2-5 may enroll in the program. Spaces are limited and fill up quickly. The St. Luke’s Discernment Committee has been hard at work finalizing necessary documents for our rector search. We are pleased to announce that the documents have been finalized, and our open position has been posted on the Diocese of Missouri website. We plan to make the profile and trifold available in hard copy so that all parishioners may review them. Please be on the lookout for those, or you may also download an electronic version of the profile from our website.
The next step in our search process is receiving candidates for the position. This opportunity will be open for 60 days. Candidates will be screened and vetted by the Diocese, and then passed on to the committee for our review. As always, the Discernment Committee thanks you for your prayers, patience and understanding. Please direct any questions to any member of the Discernment Committee.
The Discernment Committee is in the process of finalizing our church profile, the St. Luke’s portfolio and our brochure. These documents are critical in the next step of our search, which is announcing the open position and receiving names. Once these documents are finalized, we will post the open position and begin accepting candidates for approximately 60 days. We know it has been a long wait, but this is a very deliberate process to ensure we find the best fit for St. Luke’s. As always, we appreciate your patience, and please don’t hesitate to let any of the committee members know if you have any questions or concerns.

As we head into 2016, we are kicking the New Year off with our annual Chili Luncheon, to be held this Sunday, January 10 after our 11AM service. Bring your appetite and please join us for good food and fellowship. A good will offering is suggested. All proceeds will benefit the USO.
It’s hard to imagine Christmas is upon us. Yet, here we are, two days away. For many of us, it’s been a lot of hustle and bustle, and not a lot of rest. But, this is the time that we should be resting…and reflecting. We know Christmas isn’t about all the commercialism, but it’s so easy to get wrapped up (literally) in the gifts, shopping and decorations. As a visiting priest suggested to St. Luke’s recently, this time of year is our pop-up “reminder” – on the busy smartphones of our lives – of God’s unending love for us delivered through His son, Jesus Christ.
We invite you to join us on Christmas Eve for a joyful celebration of the birth of our redeemer. The evening begins with a brief music program at 4:30PM, featuring guest instrumentalists and vocalists, and our very own Praise Ensemble. The worship service begins at 5:00PM. So, don’t ignore this pop-up! Please join us for this evening of song and praise as we remember the true reason for Christmas.
The St. Luke’s Christmas Pageant will be performed on Sunday, December 20 during our 11AM contemporary service. This is a short Christmas presentation performed by our Sunday school and Youth students. All are welcome to attend. Coffee and fellowship will follow the service. We hope you can join us!
Thank you to all who participated with our Coffee & Conversations sessions, or who provided written feedback. We are now in the process of compiling the responses into a profile for St. Luke’s, as well as using the answers to help complete our portfolio. Once these documents are completed and approved, we’ll move into our next step: announcing our call for candidates! Check back for more updates.
Feed My Starving Children is a non-profit Christian organization committed to feeding God’s children hungry in body and spirit. This year, St. Luke’s is once again partnering with Good Shepherd Lutheran Church to help pack 500,000 nutritious meals for Feed My Starving Children. The Mobile Pack event takes place October 21-25, 2015 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. We invite all to volunteer for this fun and rewarding event.
Additionally this year, St. Luke’s is stepping up our efforts by raising $300 ($220 provides 1,000 meals) to help Good Shepherd in its goal of 500,000 meals packed and $110,000 raised. We hope you will consider donating to the cause. No amount is too small, especially in the fight to end childhood hunger. If you aren’t able to be with us physically at the Mobile Pack event, this is a good opportunity to contribute to a necessary effort.
