A HUGE thank you to all who came out to support our Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper, and especially to the wonderful and hardworking volunteers. The food was delicious, the fellowship always delightful, but more importantly the event raised $325 for our youth program. This is a great way to show support for St. Luke’s youth, and we can’t thank you enough. See you next year for more pancakes!
St. Luke’s will perform its annual Christmas Pagaent on Sunday, December 18 during our 10AM service. This program is open to the public. All are invited to worship with us and enjoy this charming re-telling of the birth of our savior. Coffee and refreshments are served during our coffee hour following the service.
St. Luke’s will host its annual Snacks with St. Nicholas event on Saturday, December 10 from 9:30AM – 12:00PM. Parents may drop off their children for this fun event open to ages 2-8. A light snack of Goldfish, pretzels or Teddy Grahams, along with kool-aid, lemonade, or water will be provided. Registration is required and the cost is $10 per child. We recently had much to celebrate at St. Luke’s. We honored Reverend Doris Westfall, who served as our interim priest over the past year and a half. We thank you, Mother Doris, for all you have done to help us on this part of our journey, and wish you well as you embark on the next phase of your own.
Two members of the St. Luke’s family had their marriage blessed as their 25th wedding anniversary approaches in October.
The Lord Jesus has given us so many reasons to be joyful. Let us give Him thanks and praise!
St. Luke’s recently kicked off the summer with our new combined 10AM service, annual bbq (thank you to Dave and Chris who pulled hotdog and pulled pork duties) and a visit from Bishop Wayne Smith. The vestry hosted a breakfast and discussion with Bishop Smith.
This year, we also had the pleasure of shopping for some beautiful Olive-wood handcrafts from The Holylands Arts, an organization which supports more than 500 Christian families in the Bethlehem and Jerusalem areas. A big “thank you” to Raad and Sandy from The Holylands for sharing these gifts and bringing the story of these struggling families to St. Luke’s. More information about the Holylands Arts’ mission, along with items available for purchase can be found at their website at www.theholylands.org.
Now that summer is officially underway, please note St. Luke’s summer office hours: Mon-Wed, Fri 8:30am-12:30pm.
Have a safe and fun summer!
Our annual Bingo Night was a success with a strong attendance. $500 was raised for the Episcopal City Mission and their work with the Juvenile Detention Center. Lots of fun was had and many walked home with great prizes. Thanks to all who showed up, to the volunteers and event organizers especially Barb Rumley, and to our prize donors. We hope to see you all again next year!
A friendly reminder that this Sunday’s service (January 31) is combined starting at 10AM to accommodate our annual meeting following worship service. Note that there will be no Sunday School or Adult Education.
Come share in God’s goodness, then stay for food and hear important information about St. Luke’s past year and what lies ahead. Hope to see you there!
Happy New Year from St. Luke’s! We hope your holidays were restful and filled with family and cheer. As we head into 2016, we are kicking the New Year off with our annual Chili Luncheon, to be held this Sunday, January 10 after our 11AM service. Bring your appetite and please join us for good food and fellowship. A good will offering is suggested. All proceeds will benefit the USO.
It’s hard to imagine Christmas is upon us. Yet, here we are, two days away. For many of us, it’s been a lot of hustle and bustle, and not a lot of rest. But, this is the time that we should be resting…and reflecting. We know Christmas isn’t about all the commercialism, but it’s so easy to get wrapped up (literally) in the gifts, shopping and decorations. As a visiting priest suggested to St. Luke’s recently, this time of year is our pop-up “reminder” – on the busy smartphones of our lives – of God’s unending love for us delivered through His son, Jesus Christ.
We invite you to join us on Christmas Eve for a joyful celebration of the birth of our redeemer. The evening begins with a brief music program at 4:30PM, featuring guest instrumentalists and vocalists, and our very own Praise Ensemble. The worship service begins at 5:00PM. So, don’t ignore this pop-up! Please join us for this evening of song and praise as we remember the true reason for Christmas.
The St. Luke’s Christmas Pageant will be performed on Sunday, December 20 during our 11AM contemporary service. This is a short Christmas presentation performed by our Sunday school and Youth students. All are welcome to attend. Coffee and fellowship will follow the service. We hope you can join us!
