Authority of Scripture:

We believe that the Holy Scriptures are the inspired Word of God, and that they contain all things necessary for salvation and godly living.  We are committed to faithful reading, studying, teaching, and preaching from the Scriptures; as well as believing that the Holy Scriptures are a wellspring for spiritual maturity.

Worship:

At the very center of our worship we are a liturgical and sacramental people.  Since the earliest days of the Historic Church, Christian worship was liturgical, culminating in the regular celebration of the Holy Eucharist (the Lord's Supper).  The worship of St. Luke's comes forth from the Book of Common Prayer.  We are committed to worship in Word and Sacrament, through the power of the Holy Spirit.  We believe worship is to be authentic and relevant to our cultural setting while remaining within the breadth of the Anglican tradition.

The Mission of the Church:

We believe that the Church's mission is to fulfill the Great Commission given by Jesus:  "Go and Make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you" (Mt.28:19-20); and to follow the Great Commandment where Jesus said: "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all you mind and with all your strength.  The second is like unto this: Love your neighbor as yourself" (Mk.12:29-31).  We believe that the heart of the Gospel is God's love for the human race: "For the Son of Man came to seek and to save what was lost" (Lk. 19:10).  At St. Luke's we endeavor to proclaim and share this wonderful news of God's love and grace.

Commitment to Jesus Christ:

St. Luke's believes that we are saved by grace through faith in our Lord Jesus Christ who is the only begotten Son of God.  Christ paid the full penalty on the cross for our sins.  Essential to our christian life is a relationship with Jesus as our personal Savior and Lord.  We are called to lead our lives according to His example and with a constant awareness of His abiding presence.  Christ brings to us transforming work of the Holy Spirit in our lives.  The Holy Spirit works in the hearts of His people, transforming and sanctifying them, shaping them into joyful servants to His Glory and the building up of the Kingdom.

Ministry:

St. Luke's believes that every christian shares in the "Priesthood of all believers (1 Peter 2:5)."  God has gifted and equipped each member of the Body of Christ with spiritual gifts for the purpose of building up and promoting the unity of the body of Christ (1 Cor. 12: Eph. 4).  We are committed to Christ in reaching our community with the Gospel.
